Hello Lovely, Welcome in the Boudoir.
I'm a passionate liberator, wandering artist, and lover of life. I write and have worked for many years as a boudoir photographer, studying and working with women going through intimate metamorphosis in their lives, self, and relationships.
Over the years (and maybe you can relate?) I've also been driven by a desire to experience what it's like to be fully, freely me across relationships, creativity, business, and the world. This has spilled into a preoccupation with finding alternatives to frenetic guru-led self-improvement and brand addiction – what's underneath the language of bigger, bolder, better? I am curious about what's left when we strip all the trappings away and start to really live...
My vision is to playfully provoke courageous individuals to embrace their sexy souls through photo magic, adventurous retreats to soulful places, and deep, deep creative inquiry... all while continuing to seek my own truth, create evocative beauty, and travel the world. I believe freedom - to love, to live life, to let life live us - is our highest calling.
Let's discover, together, what it means to be naked, sacred, and free...
Love, Lone
Want to know more about me?
Danish of origin but gypsy by spirit, my name sounds like Lona or Luna Moerk. I've been calling the Bay Area home for the past 12 years. With a deep curiosity about people, places, the stories we tell, and how we change, I have explored both inner and outer worlds throughout my life. Amidst climbing mountains and playing Robinson Cruso on stamp-sized islands off of Sumatra’s coast, I've worked in development projects in Nepal, created learning opportunities for Scandinavian students in San Francisco, produced documentary portraits and more, before I found the courage to pursue a more artistic career in writing and photography.
In 2004 I established Lolo’s Boudoir, a creative space for women’s self-discovery and -expression. Focusing on the magical intersection between art, play and transformation, we use photography, storytelling and coaching to inspire people to see and be seen - who they really are - and live more liberated, succulent lives.
My fine art photography and philosophy has been featured in magazines and newspapers in USA and Denmark, and exhibited in San Francisco, at City Hall, the Castro Theatre, Hotel des Arts, Mina Dresden Gallery and the international Supperclub. During the summer of 2008 big posters of my photography were shown at the town square of Vevey in Switzerland. My photos have also been used as book covers (Hot Flashes, Sexy Little Stories & Poems, Leftcoastwriters Anthology) and shown in various magazines, such as La Bella Bride, Instyle, etc.
As a writer, I published my first article in 1996 about my housekeeper in a Nepalese village. Since, my words have been published in Danish, Nepalese and American magazines, newspapers and blogs, such as Magical Blend, SF Chronicle Magazine and Huffington Post. In 2002 I won the Tannembaum literary award for my memoir, then titled Accidental Pilgrim, by the San Francisco Foundation. The same year I won Honorary Mention by Writers Digest for my essay, “Hitched by Elvis” and in 2007 the Silver Solas Award by Travelers Tales for my family story “Thank God for the War” about a reunion in Transylvania.
Currently, I'm finishing my memoir, Seeing Red, and putting together a beautiful coffee table book of the best of my photography of women. My other site, www.lonemorch.com, is being revamped with a fuller vision for my work and creative offerings, and will be launched Spring 2012. Here you'll find soul stirring writing, books, plus a variety of online and offline retreats to help you Free Your Sacred Journey!
As part of walking my talk, Freeing My Own Creative Journey, I'm courageously leaping into the arms of the unknown this summer - to live in Europe closer to the roots and turn up the volume up on my own imagination -- gulp! -- with the writing of a fictionalized story about Lolo's Boudoir. Oh my!
If you feel you wonderlust stirring, come meet me in Greece for an Inner Goddess retreat, or in Paris / France to to Meet Your Inner Lover and Leader. Learn more about these opportunities on this site.
When not photographing, writing and developing new projects, I can be found howling at the moon, hiking the trails around San Francisco with Paco, my faithful Chihuahua, and getting groovy on the dance floor. If lucky, you may catch me practising the accordion, daydreaming by the sea, cooking up a nurturing storm in the kitchen and exploring distant parts of this wondrous world.
Okay, enough already.
See you in the boudoir and beyond,
Lone
